Franklin's Stem Cell Treatment

Organized by Franklin's Friends

Saturday update on Franklin
Went to visit with Franklin and our dear friend Carolyn at the vet's office. Franklin is in really good spirits. They have him in a pen in the main area where all of the vet techs and Dr. White are, so he can see what's going on and is in the thick of things, which he LOVES (curious/nosey). He is doing well w/the cathedar in and Dr. White is able to get him to urinate easily now, which is what he needs to be able to do. She spoke with a Specialist to ensure (and reassure herself) that's the right track to be on right now, and he said she is doing everything he would, and what's best (which I never once doubted). Being cautiously optimistic, he "may" get to come home on Tuesday...if all things continue as they are now. He was sitting on the floor with Carolyn (who drove all the way down from Cincinnati to see him) when I got there, and he was very happy to see DaMomma. I took him some carrots, which he woofed down while I clipped his toenails, and his favorite rabbit, which he started chewing on and grabbing for right away. I also took a pajama top that I've slept in the past couple of nights so he could have something with my scent on it for reassurance. When we slipped out, he was content w/his nyla bone and seems ok. It was nice visiting with him and finally meeting Carolyn (nice visit at lunch...we need to do that again when not so rushed). Hoping Franklin gets to come home soon, but am reassured he is fine and doesn't think I've abandoned him. The vet techs all were loving on him and said they didn't want to see him go yet. :-) Everybody loves Franklin, not Raymond...ha! Please continue to remember him in your prayers. I was reminded healing comes all in God's time, not our time. Since this was months in the making, it will take time to heal. We are just anxious to get him working those legs and building muscle. Dr. White DID say that Franklin took a step on his own when he was standing, and we stood him often during our visit...just going to take patience.

Franklin has bladder stones
Franklin has suffered a setback. He was unable to urinate and it turns out he has a severe case of bladder stones. He has been in the hospital at Finchville since Friday morning, and Dr. White is working diligently on him to help clear those out without having to go thru another surgery. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
at Finchville Veterinary Hospital
Franklin is currently having his stem cell treatment...as I type. I ask for your thoughts and prayers for him, and for the kind people treating him. He will be on two weeks of crate rest following this procedure. We need all of the positive mojo we can get right now!
Stem Cell Treatment
Franklin goes in tomorrow morning for another meeting with Dr. White at Finchville for final evaluation, prep, and to schedule his treatment procedure. Thank you to everyone who contributed to his medical care and for making this happen!! We will keep everyone updated on his Facebook page!

Franklin's story makes news
Here is the link to Franklin's story in our local news paper. One correction...I do NOT advocate advertising "free to good home" in the news paper or on Craig's List.

Franklin's story
"Hi, my name is Franklin. I am 15months old and use to be able to walk, run and play like other little pugs, until one day ..
my 3rd human owner took me to a strange house and left. I thought he would never come back, so I decided to chase after him in his car.
I was hit by 3 cars, none of which stopped or even tried to swerve to avoid hitting me :( I dragged my crippled body to the side of the road,
someone came and took me to get help.
My earth angel has me now and she got me a wheelchair and is helping me get better, but she needs alot of help. My medical costs are $2500.00
I am a fighter and the vet thinks I may walk again!
Miracles do happen, please be a part of mine by donating what you can.
Forever grateful,
Franklin the Pug"
